QLD: Hot Air balloon clips powerlines
By Darren Cartwright
BRISBANE, Dec 26 AAP - A hot air balloon with 17 people on board has crashed to the
ground after clipping powerlines near Beaudesert in southeast Queensland.
The hot air balloon struck powerlines at about 8am (AEST) on Creek Rd at Biddaddaba
(72km south of Brisbane) on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Emergency Services told AAP four passengers were
taken to hospital with minor injuries such as back and neck pain.
One passenger was taken to nearby Beaudesert Hospital and three were transported to
Logan Hospital.
"The injuries have all been listed as minor," the spokeswoman said.
Police and Energex attended the scene of the accident.
An Energex spokeswoman told AAP there were no power problems in the area and powerlines
were not brought down.
However, they were conducting safety checks to ensure there was no structural damage
to powerlines.
