SA: Last Democrat confident they will be returned
On her final sitting day in the South Australian upper house as the nation's only Democrat
MP .. SANDRA KANCK remains confident her successor will be returned at the next election.
Ms KANCK will retire from the Legislative Council at the end of January .. after 15
years in the role .. about a year before the next state election.
She says her final ambitious week in parliament hasn't been a raging success.
Her Bill for an independent corruption watch dog in South Australia failed to pass
a third reading.
And her controlled substances palliative use of cannabis Bill was resoundingly defeated
with only two people supporting it.
