NSW: Ryan s vision for NSW police future
SYDNEY, Dec 8 AAP - NSW Police Commissioner Peter Ryan unveiled his vision for the
state's police service today, which included more policing on the streets and an upgrade
in large scale technology.
The Future Directions paper was basically a discussion document designed to insure
NSW had a dynamic police service over the next five years, Mr Ryan said.
"I want to get people thinking about where they want their police service to go," he said.
The recommendations were already in train, Mr Ryan said.
Other elements include: the creation of super stations, encouraging other agencies
to participate more in white collar crime investigations, and taking police away from
non-core duties such as responding to noise complaints, and minor domestic disputes.
