Qld: Tribute planned for Shirley Strachan

BRISBANE, Aug 26 AAP - Australian rock legends will pay tribute to former Skyhooksfrontman Graeme "Shirley" Strachan on the first anniversary of his death on Thursday.
Strachan, 49, died on August 29 last year when the Bell 47 helicopter he was pilotingcrashed into Mount Archer, just north of Brisbane.
Promoter of the Long Way to the Top concert series, Michael Chugg, today said Thursday'sperformance in Melbourne would include a tribute.
"There will be a little something," Mr Chugg said.
"Col Joye opens the show and in his medley there is Rock 'n' Roll Heaven.
"We show photos on a big screen of all our dearly departed compatriots and Shirl is among them."
Mr Chugg said he also expected that during the encore "something will be said", possiblyby former Skyhooks producer Ross Wilson.
Record label Festival Mushroom is putting the finishing touches to a new Skyhooks DVDto be released in mid-November.
Right There on Your DVD will feature interviews with surviving band members and previouslyunreleased video footage, some of which was discovered by dedicated fans.
Strachan had lived at Cooroy, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, for two years before his death.
He had been a popular television and radio personality for more than 20 years, mostrecently returning to his original trade, carpentry, for the Channel Nine show, Our House.
He became a household name in the mid-1970s when Skyhooks released the landmark Livingin the Seventies album.
When his ashes were scattered where he loved to surf off Noosa Heads, on the SunshineCoast, about 2,000 people lined the beach to pay tribute.
